-- First off, you can't really out yourself and go "hey shitheads, guess who the safety counselor is!" -- You're safe there.
Secondly, you gotta remember that a lot of of us probably had roles in our last game. Sure, it might make some shitheads suspicious, but it's easy to get around that.
[Holding up a finger; he's going to teach this baby how to lie]
For example: if you came to me asking what roles I thought were in play, I could throw off suspicion by saying I've been looking around, haven't found anything, but ask you to keep an eye out for me. Then you're gonna be more focused on a share partnership than my lying ass. See?
Mix a little truth in the lie! Say you want to figure out the roles early, because it ended up being a deciding factor in how your last game went.
Now of course, it's not like another role person can just. tell you. But if you're trustworthy enough, they might send a note, or use their role in your favor, or ask the directors if there's some way they can communicate effectively with you.
[Wow it's almost like Sanji did this before]
Look at it like you're playing the long game here; keep being a charming little bastard and the doors will open, trust me.
[... Laughing in the text because you know why, Al]
Anyway, there were a lot of roles in my game, and it took all of us accounting for each other to solve shit -- exactly why I wanna do the same here. Even if it ends up being a waste of time, better we try than sit on our shitty asses, eh?
But a lot of it was just awkward circumstances and Akechi's... Akechi-ness. That, and he uh... sorta got someone killed who was well-liked by the castle. [Pour one out for Varian]
That aside, while he could get stuck up his own ass, he was trying just as hard as the rest of us in his own way.
[That has turned into the only Akechi appreciation thread there will ever be in this game (probably) and that's beautiful]
Yeah, I heard you knew him -- damn though, didn't realize you guys came from the same place. Is he really a detective? [AKECHI MENTIONED IT but who knows if it was the truth]
no subject
Shoot.
[... Though he's also mixing together some kind of batter while they talk. Chefs don't take days off apparently.]
no subject
I found this in my pocket this morning.
[present: note! it says: You're heading in the right direction and has little blob bunny doodles hopping in a row beneath the words]
no subject
[Which seems like a weird thing to say, but! Give Sanji a second, he'll elaborate]
Another one of my role perks is I can write a note to someone once a week, anonymous. So it looks like we've got another one with that ability, too.
[Or maybe all of the role people do? Hm.]
In any case, what shit have you been doing recently that would prompt getting a note like that?
no subject
Huh. My role sponsor didn't offer me the ability to send notes. I wonder. . .
[he trails off, then shakes his head. they can table that for now; he wants to try and suss out what the note means]
And honestly? I really don't know.
. . . talking to the directors? Bouncing theories off of people, both about the camp and about the killer we didn't catch? Heck if I know.
no subject
[It could go either way, is what he's saying. There's a pause in which he gets a cake pan and begins pouring the batter in]
But alright, let's see... have you been actively seeking out other people with roles? Maybe that shit is a hint that you're on the right track.
no subject
I haven't. You're literally the only person I've talked about them to.
I'm kind of afraid to bring them up with anyone else.
no subject
Why? You nervous about outing yourself?
no subject
[a tiny huff]
I'm not exactly the world's greatest liar.
no subject

Well, that works if someone comes up to me asking about roles. But what if I ask them?
no subject
Now of course, it's not like another role person can just. tell you. But if you're trustworthy enough, they might send a note, or use their role in your favor, or ask the directors if there's some way they can communicate effectively with you.

. . .
You sound really experienced at this, senpai.
[cheeky little bastard is more like it]
no subject
I had a role in my last rodeo.
[OH HO, SENPAI IS BEING OPEN ABOUT SOMETHING?]
no subject
You did. . .?
What was it?
[Akira had none role and that's why he did okay in Blues]
no subject
[... Laughing in the text because you know why, Al]

no subject
Hah.
[a light huff, and Akira rests his elbow on the counter]
You may be right. Roles weren't a huge deal in my game, but I can't deny that those who held them weren't a huge help in saving us.
[Akechi being one of them, goes unsaid]
I guess I'll start snooping around to see what I can find. But at the very least? This note isn't about anyone's role.
no subject
Random question, but you knew -- well, know -- Akechi, right?
[He will get back to the note, he swears, but this was admittedly something Sanji had wanted to eventually bring up]
no subject
[don't bring Akechi up to the people from the castle, Belph says. and yet]
I do.
He's a-- a friend.
[for a definition of "friend"]
no subject
[Belph should've revised that statement a little. Don't bring Akechi up to anyone who isn't Disney Princess Sanji.]

[what]
no subject
[but for some reason he sounds SO RELIEVED]
no subject
[HE CAN'T DENY THAT]
But a lot of it was just awkward circumstances and Akechi's... Akechi-ness. That, and he uh... sorta got someone killed who was well-liked by the castle. [Pour one out for Varian]

no subject
That sounds like the Akechi I know.
[an asshole and a jerk, but. . . still someone who tried. even if his reasons for trying were selfish]
He's actually from my world, you know? I knew him long before we both wound up in the mansion.
no subject
Yeah, I heard you knew him -- damn though, didn't realize you guys came from the same place. Is he really a detective? [AKECHI MENTIONED IT but who knows if it was the truth]
no subject
[a bit wry!! and weirdly fond, but not in an overt way]
And I guess he can be a good one when he tries.
