[It's sunny. And hot. And perhaps not the best weather to take a nap in while you're unabashedly unconscious.
... Which is too bad, seeing as Sanji's passed out under a tree located at the village's edge - clothes dirty and ruffled, no doubt collecting more dirt as he rolls in his uncomfortable slumber, the crook of his arm covering his eyes.
Go on. Wake him up. Be a good Samaritan.
And hell, even if you don't, Sanji will eventually stumble upon you -- or into you, if that's your thing. Later in the day he'll be all over the village insisting he's fine, no he's not drunk so stop trying to escort him back to bed. B| He can walk it off.]
[ooc: MALLYNAP EFFECT. Touch him and your character will share a memory with Sanji. It can be a memory of his or a memory of your character's; just specify in the subject line what you prefer. |D Any memory is free game, and the scope of it is at our discretion, but keep in mind both characters will view it until the memory ends or they escape the "boundary". (Just imagine the memory as a bubble and if a character walks far enough for whatever reason, they pop it.) Also note they're still in Luceti - no teleporting anywhere. Just assume the characters are mostly slack-jawed and staring at a tree for the duration.
I also endorse all time-breaking. Tis but a flimsy wall in our way.]

action; asfjdlafkadfl. THAT IS ALL.
This is highly unexpected: it more than shows in Lestrade's expression as he follows the urging and looks to brace himself. Ship, then. A very legitimate ship full of very legitimate sailors and legitimate piracy... and legitimately impossible facial hair, but that's a very back-burner detail being noted.
(Approaching Sanji in the street in the middle of the day. Great idea, Greg, looks like that's working out about as well as the last time you tried it.
Christ, they've got to stop meeting like this.)
He lets his eyes wander a bit numbly for a few moments and doesn't bother asking how this happened (if he waited on a how half of anything happened to him anymore, he'd never leave his flat), instead putting his focus on the other people in the picture for the most part; because if they've noticed two blokes in suits suddenly popping in on their little pillage, they're damn good at keeping it to themselves. Not that he's about to try drawing any attention to the fact himself, quite frankly.
There's a quick look to Sanji when his grip tightens, and a frown- bad sign? The boy bursting out of the galley is confirmation enough of that, scrawny and yellow-haired and familiarly curly-eyebrowed and wielding a bloody pair of kitchen knives, and Lestrade promptly comes to the conclusion that he doesn't quite like where this is going. That would be around where he reflexively makes to step forward, actually, only to stop the movement halfway and turn to his latest traveling companion. Prepare to be hissed at, Sanji, as gentlemen do. ]
What is this? Do you know? [ Benefit of the doubt, innocent until proven guilty. He can always scrape up a bit to give, for all that forming his own conclusions is well underway. Can we do anything, do you know, is the bigger unspoken question. ]
action; >]
Very clearly, it's the answer to that unspoken question. No, not a damn thing we can do.
A fact that might be hard to swallow, when the air cracks with a sudden, pained yelp. The boy goes flying backwards through a wall, rubble and debris cluttered all around him, and the pirates jeer in delight at the night's entertainment. Only the pirate captain seems unfazed. But the hooting and hollering ceases in surprise; he should be unconscious, yet the boy has somehow managed to crawl out from the rubble, a bloody mess... only to stupidly clamp his teeth around the captain's boot with all the strength his boyhood rage will allow him.
"I'm not gonna die... I'm gonna find All Blue one day!"
... And then the laughter begins anew.
"Whoo! All Blue, he said?!"
"What an stupid goal!"
"Tell 'em, Captain! We've been all around the Grand Line and never saw it! That place doesn't exist!"]
action;
He's got a career in finding out about things that have happened, getting history and answers, it could definitely be said. He's seen the aftermath of some of the worst things humanity has to offer, spoken with the perpetrators face to face. People will do whatever they please, it's what he's come to understand.
But this sort of thing... it's an invasion, isn't it? Not his business to be finding out, broken walls and All Blue and stubbornly biting boots for lack of any other way to fight back. Wouldn't take a genius to figure this isn't something Sanji made a plan on broadcasting.
And it's just plain hard to watch, besides, but it's not like things along these lines are ever easy. Lestrade presses his mouth into a thin line, grinds his teeth, and respectfully (a little selfishly) turns his face away. A real point of interest, the ship decks of other worlds. ]
action;
Who knows? Maybe it's just hard to stay pissed when Sanji knows very well that only two people will be surviving this night.
The pirates eventually lose interest when the storm's temper increases, inciting a mad dash for the pirate ship. There's a water everywhere, now, sloshing over the railings and robbing the deck of everything that isn't held fast by rope.
"Sanji!"
And that includes people, too. But the memory ends here - just in time to witness the boy's body grabbed by the sea's hands and plunged into darkness.]
action;
--over? Oh. Hello again, Luceti.
All right, good, over. Dirt, village, trees, the whole kit and kaboodle, and that's a relief in a big way. Never really was the sailing type- he could wade through questionably sanitary water, he could swim, but give Lestrade a choice and he'll keep his feet on the ground any day.
He's quiet for a few long seconds, careful in moving his hand away from Sanji's shoulder while his face falls into a bit of a default I am an experienced police officer and what is this expression. It's one he's used rather a lot. Lestrade eventually clears his throat and opts to ignore his wings pitching a fit beneath his jacket like a professional. ]
Maybe not the clinic. [ Haa. Yeah. Definitely not the clinic. ] Alright? [ Not as definite as the clinic option became. ]
action;
[Too bad that doesn't negate how damn tired he feels and how he's wondering why in the seven hells he thought a walk was a good idea. Jeez. He'll just prop himself up on the nearest wall and close his eyes briefly. Don't worry, he'll get to that question when he's good and ready, by which we mean in a few seconds]
I've had worse. [If he's referring to memories or experiences in general... well, this is Luceti. Either option is valid.]
Are you alright? [Said after one eye suddenly pops open, sharp and assessing.]
action;
You're asking me? [ He'll hold his arms out to the side and scuff a shoe against the ground for manners' sake, though. Which is the best gesture of fine-dom, clearly. ] I'm not bleeding or taking an unexpected swim, I think I'll live.
[ A future of seafaring is no more in the cards than ever it was so no love lost. He'll take solid ground any day.
...this is probably not an appropriate time to ask questions, either. Damn. ]
action;
It's been weeks since he's a reason to think about his dream, made literally impossible by his being in Luceti. He didn't need the reminder]
action;
You were all right, though. Properly all right? [ His question-asking obviously can't be tamed, Sanji. ]
action;
But I lived. [There's a level of selfishness there Sanji will be ashamed of later for not lying through his teeth and giving Lestrade some peace of mind. He refrains from details, however, and bites uselessly at his fingernails because he knows there aren't any cigarettes left in his pocket.]
And that shithead who kicked me through a wall? Ended up raising me. [A tired shrug] Everything worked out for the better.
action;
There'll be a better time than while he's leaning against a wall on the fine line between coherent and disorderly, probably. Individual people are so much easier to work with than press conferences at large, much as he must still consciously remind himself that hey, not a good idea to provide a leaning shoulder at the moment. ] Ought to be getting you home, then. We've got a village full of poor bastards waiting to be bumped into, and I'd rather save 'em the trip.
[ Especially your employees, they've got enough trouble as it is. :I ]
action;
That mean you're escorting me home? [Seeing as it's Lestrade, Sanji cares far less about the answer in this case. The man has just proved he can keep his mouth shut when it's necessary, earning him a few points in the pirate's good graces.]
action;
action;
Being a pirate, shouldn't I be worried first?
action;
if they're not already there who can tell in these crazy times. ]action;
If this shitty jail of yours happens to look like my house, then I think we've got a deal.
action;
Let me know when you're ready to move, then. [ And one of those head-dips typically accompanied by admitting to something. ] Where we're going, too, that might be useful.
action;
Two stories high, got a lawn on the roof. [Straw Hat thing. Lestrade is better off not asking]
action;
So I'll know it when I see it.
action;
Oh yeah, it's pretty distinct.
