[It's sunny. And hot. And perhaps not the best weather to take a nap in while you're unabashedly unconscious.
... Which is too bad, seeing as Sanji's passed out under a tree located at the village's edge - clothes dirty and ruffled, no doubt collecting more dirt as he rolls in his uncomfortable slumber, the crook of his arm covering his eyes.
Go on. Wake him up. Be a good Samaritan.
And hell, even if you don't, Sanji will eventually stumble upon you -- or into you, if that's your thing. Later in the day he'll be all over the village insisting he's fine, no he's not drunk so stop trying to escort him back to bed. B| He can walk it off.]
[ooc: MALLYNAP EFFECT. Touch him and your character will share a memory with Sanji. It can be a memory of his or a memory of your character's; just specify in the subject line what you prefer. |D Any memory is free game, and the scope of it is at our discretion, but keep in mind both characters will view it until the memory ends or they escape the "boundary". (Just imagine the memory as a bubble and if a character walks far enough for whatever reason, they pop it.) Also note they're still in Luceti - no teleporting anywhere. Just assume the characters are mostly slack-jawed and staring at a tree for the duration.
I also endorse all time-breaking. Tis but a flimsy wall in our way.]

[Action] EXCELLENT. /steeples fingers
Or... you can. But it's probably not very comfortable]
Oof!!
[Action]
[More specifically, Doctorine's home. The one before they moved to Wapol's castle. He remembers the warmth and mixing medicine before Kureha enters to scold him - one hundred years too soon to be playing with ingredients - but then Doctorine is stumbling back, her bottle of alcohol shattering on the floor, a wan smile crossing her face as Chopper rushes forward to her.]
["I'll be your first patient. I won't give you any advice. If you fail, I'll die. Learn the ultimate lesson...once you decide to practice medicine, your patients' lives are your responsibility..."]
[If things blur out from there, well, that's not your fault, Sanji - everything whirls by in moments, the words of hundreds of texts, dozens of medicines, a faded recollection or two of replacing damp cloths on Kureha's forehead - and then the single, shaking moment of triumph when he figures out the disease. The Mondolin virus. And he remembers, as he pulls ingredients off the shelves and mixes them together, his plea: "Doctorine, don't die...please..."]
[When he gives the finished medicine to her, she doesn't ask what's in it. She tells him, your patients won't know. They just trust you to make them better. Then she sends him away. But just as he begins to close the door, he hears her call out after him.]
["Chopper. Not bad, considering your lack of experience..."]
[And then the warmth, the pride, of hearing her true praise for the first time.]
[Action] ... ;; /hugs Chopper. NNNGH THIS MEMORY
The chef takes one look at Kureha's ashen face, then Chopper's expression enveloped in fear as the reindeer darts forward, and Sanji embraces the urge to turn away from the scene. That, or stubbornly keep his eyes shut. He's invasive when he needs to be for another's sake, and not because the Malnosso get off on some cheap experiment that's turned him into a walking Shift. He can at least choose not to invade a nakama's privacy.
Unfortunately, he has less control over his ability to hear. Flipped, crumpled pages; glass skating across the table as Chopper pushes them aside; thin raspy breathing; a heartfelt and personal plea. Sanji tenses and twitches uncomfortably, reminds himself that he shouldn't look--
It's at the end of the memory that his curiosity bests him, and his right eye opens, shrouded behind blond bangs. Where once was a convoluted whirlwind of activity, silence now blankets over the scene, and Chopper is being already been sent away - just in time for Sanji to catch both praise and the fullness of his nakama's pride that makes the man smile before the scene dims to a close, and they're both where they've always been: in Luceti, still piled on the floor]
... [Eventually Sanji does what he should've at the beginning and pushes himself off the poor reindeer, though careful not to catch his eyes yet. His chest is as warm and full as his head is stuffy and lightheaded, and he needs a moment.]
[Action] it could be worse! he could have seen sex ed again!
[It isn't the memory itself. Despite how it starts, and how it still is in the middle, the end redeems it as a fond memory for him. It's the fact that it's happening here, now, and especially that he's hearing Doctorine's voice for the first time in too long and he misses her -]
[So when the memory fades off and the weight lifts away, Chopper is finding himself feeling a little dazed. Seeing that the weight belongs to Sanji doesn't do much to make things any clearer, but that doesn't mean it isn't a welcome sight.]
Sanji...? [He's a little breathless at the moment, unable to notice his nakama's unsteadiness or even really register that he's back.] What was...
[Action] ldfsiofhdsfi that's okay, Sanji will take this one
[A pause, a sigh, and then his voice grows soft with remorse] Sorry. I didn't have time to warn you.
[Though he's grateful at least it was a pleasant memory to look at - hopefully for both him and for Chopper]
[Action]
It's okay. I already told Robin about that a long time ago...I don't mind if you know, too. [Ignoring the fact that there's a huge difference between hearing a story and watching the events play out in front of you like a movie...but he's okay with ignoring.]
[Of course, that's when it dawns on him that this is a side effect from Sanji's kidnapping. The memory is still leaving him a little shaky, but that realization kick-starts Chopper into the next line of business; yes, he's looking at you now, Sanji. Feel his scrutiny.]
Oi, but Sanji! You just got back, right? Here, let me take a look - [Then he flinches.] - um, will...we share anything else if we touch again?
[Action]
Eventually he picks the path of least resistance. Chopper is treated to a simple nod.] Haven't tested it out yet, but I'd assume so.
[Which might render Chopper's job a little more difficult]
[Action] If so...one of Sanji's this time? 8|a
I can't let that stop me. [He motions towards the nearby couch] If anything happens...we'll just have to try and ignore it.
[Action] Can do 8Db
... Hnnn, he's gonna get bossed around anyway, isn't he?]
[Action]
Do you need help getting to the couch? [He won't touch you until you're ready for it, but he ain't gonna let you crawl there or something. B|]
[Action]
[First step: climb to his feet.
Second step: send nerves signals from the brain to his legs, indicating the desire to contract the muscles in order to move forward.
Third step: nerve signals take a detour somewhere, get lost, and decide to order out for pizza.
Fourth step: face plant. Again.]
[Action]
Mun does not have a New Heavy Point icon yet SO SHUSH]Sanji! [Squawk. Sanji, ur not supposed to do that. Yep, sorry, we're going to be Heavy Point for this. Who is coincidentally honking huge now, but one must work with what they have 8| Particularly when they've panicked.]
[So he quickly sweeps the cook up off the floor, makes a beeline for the couch, and silently hopes that the memory-sharing is a one time deal.]
[Action]
A deceptively simple and humble memory floods the scene. There's a small occupied bed nestled in the corner, the occupant's snores occasionally loud enough to vibrate the walls, and as the seconds tick by with no hint of activity, Sanji starts to hope that's all this is.
The creak of a door and the subtle pitter-patter of a ten-year-old's feet are what dash that futile wish. The boy doesn't approach the bed too quickly. Even as shaken and lonely as he feels, his chest too full from the night's unshed tears, he eyes the bed with a certain amount of discontent while standing in the middle of the room until he works out a compromise: he slides to the foot of the bed, hunches over with his arms drawn tight around his knees, and sits there.
Just sits there.
... Just sits there.]
[Action]
[Granted, it's enough. Enough to hear the pattering of feet and creaking hinges as the door opens. Chopper's own eyes betray him, flicking over briefly to catch the dark figure outlined against the imaginary wall.]
[Then the familiarity of the scene strikes him. It's enough to put him back into motion, searching for a place to deposit Sanji...]
[...and finding none. Because everything around them isn't really there.]
[Chopper holds the adult Sanji against his chest, eyes screwing shut. Maybe if he'd been faster, he could have gotten his nakama to the couch before the memory started. The only thing that provides any sort of relief is the fact that the memory is filled with silence, which means if he closes his eyes, he doesn't have to experience it.]
[...but the scene plays out again, this time exclusively in his head. Only this time it's Chopper's memory. Of a young Sanji coming into his room for comfort, and finding it only because he accidentally woke the doctor up. Would this - the quiet boy slouched against the wall alone - have been the reality of that night if Sanji had never stumbled into his room?]
[...]
[He opens his eyes and, maneuvering the Sanji in his arms, sits. Just sits against the floor, facing the space between the young boy and the figure snoring against the bed. Head bowed in the smallest amount of privacy he hasn't already violated. It isn't real, but at least in gesture, he can sit with the younger Sanji until the memory ends.]
Sorry, Sanji. I didn't think it through.
[Action]
It's a sentiment Sanji can almost relate to, still. He supposes the biggest difference between now and then is he's learned to sleep with his boogeymen still in the room.
This is not meant to be a happy memory - very soon it starts to fade without reaching any resolution, the present surroundings intermingling with the past until nothing is left. The chef slowly releases the breath he didn't know he was holding.
He... isn't sure what to say]
[Action]
[After a few heartbeats, he'll climb to his feet and head towards the couch to let Sanji down.]
If I don't let go...will that keep any more memories from being triggered?
[Action]
Otherwise another would be starting.
[Action]
[It's a little awkward, but workable; Chopper flips the backpack open and shuffles around inside for a stethoscope. Yeah, you know the drill, Sanji.]
So these hallucinations happen every time you touch someone? [He tries to keep it from sounding a little too pointedly clinical.] Are there any other effects? Injuries?
[Action] LMFAO THAT ICON.
Every time.
And none that I know of. Just tired as hell. [And with all these memories clouding his head, any incoming headaches will be with him well into the night]
[Action] SHUSH IT LOOKS FINE IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE CONTEXT >_>
[And then there's the next question that he really doesn't want to ask, but probably should: ] How many people have you touched since you got back? Does it worsen your condition?
[Action] BUT I *DO* KNOW THE CONTEXT >]
... I didn't keep track. [He attempts something other than sounding guilty] Eight, nine?
But I didn't notice any shitty differences. [A shrug] Every time, it happened just like we saw.
[Action] WELL...shut up 8'(
[Sanji's pupils are a little dilated, which could signal the presence of drugs. Or it could just be good old fashioned adrenal fatigue. Or a hundred other things; it's always a frustrating amount of unknowns when it comes to time with the Malnosso. Drugs are always at the top of the list, though.]
It seems like you still have full cognitive ability, and I can't find anything unusual to the situation in your vital signs. Rest is probably the best thing for you right now unless any other symptoms come up. [pause] Have you had anything to eat or drink since you got back?
[Action] HUFF WELL FINE. /FLIPS
No, didn't get a chance. [And of course it goes without saying the Malnosso didn't bother feeding him] I'll go make myself something in a sec.
[Action] /ACTIVATES JETPACK
[B|]
Sanji, you need to rest! I can give you something simple to get your blood sugar back up, but until then, I want you to stay in bed.
[Action] WUT THAT'S CHEATING
But I'm hungry.
[Is that a whine in his voice? Possibly.]
