... Which is too bad, seeing as Sanji's passed out under a tree located at the village's edge - clothes dirty and ruffled, no doubt collecting more dirt as he rolls in his uncomfortable slumber, the crook of his arm covering his eyes.

Go on. Wake him up. Be a good Samaritan.



And hell, even if you don't, Sanji will eventually stumble upon you -- or into you, if that's your thing. Later in the day he'll be all over the village insisting he's fine, no he's not drunk so stop trying to escort him back to bed. B| He can walk it off.]

[Azusa is going to run into him, actually. Not physically, at least not yet, but she does see him walking around. And if Sanji isn't worth stopping and talking to, then just who is...?]

[Slowly, Authur's douche-bag credentials are pushed aside, and the severity of the memory seeps into Sanji's awareness. Mephisto is quick to steal the spotlight and bask in his idea - a weapon strong enough to move the battle from defensive to offensive. Strike back at Satan. Use Rin. Whether he shall be determined an asset or a danger will be put to the test.

Sanji is... less enthused by this declaration, and the bickering fools sorely remind him of the World Government. Ha. Of course there's assholes like them in every world. His stare bounces from the boy holding his weight, to his memory twin who is stony and silent with his head bowed, the crowd arguing above him.]

Sanji! [Squawk. Sanji, ur not supposed to do that. Yep, sorry, we're going to be Heavy Point for this. Who is coincidentally honking huge now, but one must work with what they have 8| Particularly when they've panicked.]

[So he quickly sweeps the cook up off the floor, makes a beeline for the couch, and silently hopes that the memory-sharing is a one time deal.]

--Fujiko-chan~! [The confusion parts long enough for Sanji to be appreciative of the lovely lady looming over him, and without a thought he grabs her hand with the enthusiasm of a long-lost lover] Did Fujiko-chan come to rescue me~~?

[Right at the moment of contact, the memory resurfaces, and now the younger Sanji is blinking mystified at this girl who has approached him. He informs her she probably shouldn't be back here - it's a private kitchen, after all - and blushing, the girl's reply is to insist on his name. She's seen him before, so she thought that maybe they could chat...

Well... he at least gives the name to her, even though he's still confused and nervous about Zeff unleashing his wrath on the poor thing, but Sanji was raised on manners and politely escorts the girl to the door despite all protests. But she's upset now; crestfallen. Refusing to meet his eyes. The teen winces to himself, grits his teeth, and looking at the floor himself, mentions something about free dessert if she promises to smile.

It does the trick; the girl's face blossoms into delight. She thanks him not with words, but with an innocent peck on the corner of his lips before boldness flees her and she ducks through the door - no doubt to giggle over the experience with her friends.

As for Sanji... he stares stupefied at the door, red in the face, one visible eye wide and misty as if he's just realized his life's purpose. Like he's seen God.

The older Sanji... he's red in the face too. And then he quickly covers his eyes with a groan as if he just saw something deeply embarrassing. Thank shit the memory ends right there]

[With whose crew you're on, he wouldn't doubt it if you did. And as you stand, Ace will stay nearby, defensively holding up his arms in case you happen to fall again.]

[ Oh, that's not worrying at all. Nope. Sanji is free to take his time pretending he's moving with all true intent, because Lestrade's probably taking a second or two to wince for his sake on impact. Matter of heart. ]

Right. For the record, sometimes it's easier just to say 'no, could I get a hand'. Come on then- I think there's a bed at the clinic waiting on you. [ Or a bench and a glass of water at least. Initiating hand-to-shoulder contact in 3, 2, 1... take the floor. ]

HOW LONG DOES THIS THING LAST FOR?!

[And then just like that it was over. The pain was gone. Zoro jolts back into his body with a hard whump and it takes all his training not to choke on what feels like his first breath of fresh air all year.

He sits still for a moment then, slowly, carefully, lifts a hand to his face. It's scuffed from the day's activities but otherwise clean-- no blood dribbling down as he vaguely expected there would be. He looks around, blinking. Sanji, awake, and the village in the distance. A tree. The sky.

It takes him a moment but he begins to breathe normally again. Phantom pain still curling through his body, Zoro fails to register that he's still gripping Sanji's arm. Hard.]

[Ah, one of his favorite lady friends! This means Sanji should twist himself into a happy whirlwind of delight upon seeing her face]

Azusa-chwaaaaaaan~! Yes, it is--!

[O-oh dizzy.

Now might be a good time to fall flat on his face and wait for the world to stop spinning. But he's okay! Totally okay.]

[Sanji knows what's happening, and Yue being the tight-lipped individual that he is, it's all the more pertinent the chef keep his head low and wait for the memory to finish.

Curiosity is hard to ward off, however; under the heavy moonlight, Sanji glances up despite himself, just for a second, and he catches sight of a little girl jumping through the air with abilities that impress even the practitioner of Red Leg. With one more leap she collapses on the ledge the memory's Yue is poised on top of, the winged guardian seemingly giving no thought to the girl's pleas.

"Now, I'll proceed with the Last Judgment."

The chef stiffens at such an ominous-sounding task, and when Sakura pleads again - "But you really are Yukito, after all!" - he finds out how right his instincts were. A startled cry rips from his throat when Yue brutally flings her back; Sanji muscles himself out of the real Yue's grip.]

OI! What are you doing?!

[concasse]

... Oi.

[The force of the grip doesn't escape Sanji's notice, and that's good. It grounds him into the here and now and out of the memory's pain. Keeps him from shaking. And while the chef is careful to keep his stare squarely on the patch of dirt in front of him once he angles himself into a sitting position, his voice is flat and calm]

Let go.

[So his options are to wake her up now, and probably get punched in the face... or wait until it's not a horrendous hour in the morning and then get punched in the face.

... Or option C, which is brace himself for another memory. Apparently, the rules of the game count hair. Goddamnit all.

[Sanji is lucky. When the first crash of water slams into the ship they're suddenly on, he's already on the floor, and only has to anchor his hands to keep from sliding. Instinct has him snapping a grip over Lestrade's wrist, too, urging him against a wall; a sailor's blood never sleeps, and you don't strike him as a sailor, sir.

The boat is sturdy, at least, thankfully, and the sea bides her time and holds her breath, giving the vessel precious seconds to right itself. Everyone on board eyes the skies warily, anyway - the torrents of rain water have yet to let up - but these men, these pirates are on a timer, and have just finished gathering up the last of the stolen gold. One man in particular stands tall among them - a fearsome individual with a long mustache, who only bothers to bark out an order when he notes some of his men stealing food.

"No. Leave the food." And the pirate drops his bounty, swift to obey.

It's a scene straight out of a storybook, of evil pirates and their greed overtaking all who aren't quick to flee from their path, and maybe if not for the way Sanji's grip tightens on Lestrade's wrist in apprehension, that's all it would need to be.

But it's not over. All commotion suddenly stills, because out of nowhere there's a kid of ten bursting out of the galley - blond, afraid, and defiant - wielding two kitchen knives and demanding his right to live]

[There's a fumble, a muttered curse as someone falls off his own bed and lunges for the door - and then Sanji's staring down at Elicia, hair in disarray and eyes wild from sleep and fear]

Elicia-chan? Are you okay!? [He doesn't ask why she's here, or stop to think that maybe he shouldn't have opened the door at all in his condition. She sounded worried and that's all he can focus on]

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeees

[It's a man's pride, Katara! The best way to prove you're healthy is to make an idiot out of yourself.

And Katara catches him leaning against a wall. He blinks in a daze at first, then smiles brightly, for all the effort it takes him] Katara-chan~! Yes, just a few hours ago!

[To his credit, he took a nap. He just didn't stay in bed for long]

[Action] ... This could be traumatic.

[Noel, Sanji would do anything for you.

... Except respond at this moment in time. Blame the Malnosso. B| He does, however, tilt his head slightly, as if proof that he heard a voice and just needs time to drag himself out of sleep. But other than that, he doesn't move]

[Come now, Ven. That little push isn't going to wake anyone up. Sanji doesn't even grunt.

But a touch has been confirmed. Luceti abruptly disappears. Hold onto something, a memory is not far off the horizon]

[Leaning against the wall. Like a man. Like a stupid man with stupid man pride instead of being in bed where you belong. D8

She stops a pace or so away from him.]

[And the peaceful surroundings of Luceti rapidly shift to something dry. Barren. Rocky cliffs replace the green of the trees, while dust blows through the air. Down below the cliffs, a young boy stands, surrounded by black creatures with long antennae, massive claws, and beady yellow eyes. The boy shakily holds out his Keyblade, looking at the surrounding Heartless. A bald, old man stands high above him with his hands tucked behind his back.

The boy, a younger version of Ven, looks up at the man with a fearful expression.

"Please don't do this, Master! I'm not strong enough."

"No, it is because you're trying to hold it in..."]

What the...?

[Ven frantically looks around, first at his surroundings, then at Sanji. Briefly, he tries giving him a light shake. Meanwhile, the memory continues as Master Xehanort gazes down at Ven's past self.

"Let the dark impulses waken in the pit of your heart. Release them here and now; sharpen your fear into rage!"

Whatever's happening here, it doesn't bode well.]

[DON'T PANIC BUT--

She leaps in for a hug and squeezes him tightly, her own eyes clenched shut. Whoops. The scene starts melting into something new as she keeps squeezing him like he was trying to run off on her.]

I love you I love you I love you!

[Oh, a living room set up for a birthday? Three candles on the cake, and a room full of relatives. Elicia's running around with a bunch of kids her age having a grand ol' time, but in the meanwhile, the real Elicia hasn't even bothered looking at it.]

I know you had a bad day, but it's okay, because we love you and tomorrow will be better! Hang in there! Don't give up!

[A moment passes before Zoro stoically begins to uncurl his fingers. A sign of how shaken he actually is, he mutters a quick apology in response. He sits back on his heel, stands, and turns to stare at the village, face a placid mask as always.]

[Sanji spreads Zoro's apology too broadly and snaps a glare at the man's back.

Why the hell are you apologizing? It's not as if Zoro asked for the horrific trip down memory lane. No, this is Sanji's fault for napping in broad daylight where every Do Gooder in Luceti would see him and try to help out.]

... I'll make it back to town myself. [It's mumbled after an uncomfortable pause, one that brims with shame on the chef's end. He's tired and exhausted and probably won't be able to make the trip without stumbling into half the buildings, but that scenario pales in comparison to how it'll feel to have Zoro escort him back]
