003↠ ACTION/VOICE -- Chibi free for all

[ooc note: Okay, here's the deal, folks. Rather than create two posts for chibi!Sanji and risk losing my tags (because it would happen, trust me), this is the only entry I'll put up. I'm going to leave it up to you what age Sanji will be when your character(s) run into him. I put out the scenarios, and you guys run with them. |D Don't be afraid to be creative, I don't mind. Just mention the age in the subject line. If you want more than one chance to tag, create another thread, and specify the new age. |D Easy, yes? Possible ages are 11 through 20. Possible dates are February 3 through the 12. I am fine with either voice or action, though if it's voiced, it'll be assumed your character contacted Sanji through the journals first.

Ladies who volunteered to be crushed on! The applicable ages for that are 14 and up. But of course, you can interact with a younger version of Sanji if you want.

And also, bear with me on the icon front. >> There are plenty pictures of Sanji as a child and an adult, but not much in-between. U-use your imagination? ;A;]

[Nights have been rough so far, with strange dreams lingering on after his eyes have opened. And it makes him feel... different, somehow, like his life has altered in leaps and bounds. Skills that weren't accessible before, come to him easily. There are recipes in his head that shouldn't be there. He almost wishes he could tell someone about them; maybe one of the crew, eventually. They're nice enough, and have been more than accommodating, taking him in like this.

These thoughts are heavy to carry, but he's still a young boy suddenly trapped in a weird town with weird things. His attention isn't meant to dwell on problems for long. The goal to find Zeff eventually lessens to a dull ache, and Sanji busies himself with exploration: this Seventh Heaven restaurant, for one, and maybe the grocery store. He visits the item shop on a the fickle whim of a curious child, and eventually finds his way to the forest. He won't run away, though. He promised himself he wouldn't try anymore.]

[And in just a few days, Sanji finds himself forced to leave adolescence behind. It's more than a little obvious that something isn't right. While the crew has probably mentioned the nature of experiments, all the explanations in the world aren't gonna make this any less awkward, as he speeds through growth spurts and into sore, lanky limbs. He's grumpy half the time, flustered as well... which seems to happen like clockwork, whenever a pretty girl is nearby. He spends the majority of these days as red as a tomato and resorting to petty insults if it will get people out of his hair. When it gets hard to control, he seeks solitude to practice stretching and single-sparring. Or perhaps Nami. She's going through the same thing, too.

House 6 and Seventh Heaven are still his main places of solace. He considers himself a worthy enough cook by now, though he will often yield to Yukito's directions. He's broadened his explorations, however; he heavily frequents the forestplains, and will use the teleporters to sneak off to the ocean, when he feels like it.]

[Given enough time, the strangest of circumstances stop being strange, and turn into a compromised status-quo. Sanji barely gives any attention to his nightly dreams now - they come and he changes, both mentally and physically. His temper is still hot as ever, but slowly being tempered by a knack for cunning and kindness. Even his initial anxiety around women has all but disappeared - he eagerly greets them now, with what the residents might note to be his usual enthusiasm. Still rough around the edges and prone to silliness (or hormone spikes), but that's Sanji for you.

He knows the entire village layout, and you can find him anywhere: item shop, grocery, clothing store, battle dome, forest, ocean... He finds a reason to visit them all because sometimes, it's easier walking blindly, even when you don't really have a place to go to.]

The eggs still need to be done. I don't know what your-- [pause] -- our crew prefers. [He turns to her for ideas]

Does anyone care between over easy and scrambled?

Scrambled eggs with sausage are pretty popular. I can get started on that, if you like.

[Vivi reaches for the carton of eggs and begins cracking them into a bowl. Glancing at Sanji, she notes that the knot she'd put in his apron strap a few days ago to keep it from hanging too low is no longer there, and she's struck again by how odd it is to see him growing up practically before her eyes.]

...how tall are you now? [Just idle curiosity.]

I dunno. [He pauses, adding sheepishly as he attends to the fresh fruit salad he had planned on making:] I didn't check. [He's not tall enough to look Vivi in the eyes, yet, but he's well above a meager five foot]

[She tugs lightly at his sleeve.] Come stand next to me then. I want to compare!

[Vivi, why you gotta make him stand right next to you? Sanji complies, of course, making sure his back is straight.

... And sorta ducking his elbows close together. There's no doubt he'll be all limbs in a few days]

[Vivi puts a hand on the top of his head and hovers it closer to her.]

Look! In a few more days, you're going to be taller than me again. [Which, to be honest, she finds a little sad. Not that she isn't eager to have him back to normal (she is), but she kind of likes having him as a younger brother of sorts.]

Really? [Oddly, the knowledge is a relief. It had been a long-held worry that starvation would stunt his growth, but if he's gonna get taller than Vivi--]

How much taller do I get?

Oh, sort of... [She moves her hand to the top of her head now, and raises it up about three or four inches.]

About like that. Oh! Actually, close to the same height as Mr Bushido. [Maybe that makes it easier to visualize.]

Ha! [Prideful validation has just been activated] I bet I'll get taller than that shithead, too.

[Vivi only smiles and shrugs in reply to that.] I suppose you'll have to wait and see.

[She turns her attention back to the eggs, cracking another into the bowl.]

But how long though? [He glances down at his feet, his legs, brows lightly furrowed]

This can't be normal...

[Vivi sighs, shaking her head. After a moment's pause, she agrees with him.] No, it's not. But these kinds of things happen around here sometimes. Experiments. Not this exactly, but...

One time I was... [she holds her thumb and index finger about three inches apart] ...about this small. And it lasted for a few weeks.

Hm. [She studies him again.] How old are you today?

[His eyes get big when she gestures, hardly able to believe it. If not for the fact it's Vivi, who wouldn't lie to him, and that he's going through something equally as crazy, he probably wouldn't.]

... I dunno. [He stares at the floor again, suddenly feeling unsure how much he should say. The dreams don't really tell him his age; they only let him guess] How old do I look?

It's hard to say for sure. Maybe thirteen or so?

[She sees that downcast expression and reaches out to give his sleeve another little tug, more to catch his attention than guide him anywhere.] Don't worry, Sanji-san. It'll be all right.

[Mmmff. Well, it's not sightly for a lady to see him grumpy - that and he does feel a little better. He offers a tiny grin before manning up]

Yeah. [He rubs his neck again] Sorry Vivi-san.

No apologies needed. [She thinks he's taking this whole ordeal pretty well, actually, all things considered. She just doesn't like seeing him down. To that end, she shifts the conversation topic as she continues cracking more eggs into the bowl--gotta make sure there's enough for everyone.]

Have you got any plans for today?

Seventh Heaven. [He says it automatically. By this point, it's the first place he goes.] I told Yukito I'd be around to help out.

And I might head for the beach later. I've never been there before. [Another sheepish smile. He pauses in the middle of cutting up some cantaloupe and shows Vivi the shirt he's wearing - which is now rather small]

I should probably hit the shitty clothing store, too.

[Seventh Heaven, of course. So diligent already.]

It's a shame the beach will be too cold for swimming. I'd tag along.

[She nods absently at his too-small shirt, cracking the last egg and beginning to whisk them together.] Maybe you should get some bigger things, too. To grow into.

I'm not going there to swim. [Cantaloupe done, he moves onto the pineapple] Just to do some exercises. The ol' geezer would be pissed at me if he thought I was slacking off.

[And there's an idea.] Oh, I guess I could. [Pause] Maybe I should ask Nami-chan for help. [She's more clothing literate than he]

[Eggs whisked to her satisfaction, she adds a little salt and spice for flavor.] Oh? What sort of exercises? [She wonders if the sea factors in, or he's just going there for the space and relative peace and quiet.]

[Vivi fetches a frying pan and begins to brown some ground sausage for the eggs. She nods at his mention of Nami.] Mm. That's a good idea. She'll probably want to get some things too. [And maybe use you as a pack mule, depending on how carried away she gets.]

Stretching. Balance. [Technically meditating but he doesn't have the patience for it.]

Mmhmm. [He smiles a little at the thought, since he's rather used to lugging stuff around for her. He doesn't mind] Is she still in bed?

Oh, I see. Maybe one day you'll let me watch you practice? [Vivi has to admit, she's curious. Then another thought strikes her and she turns to him with an excited smile.]

Maybe we could even spar! ...if you go easy on me. [She has no idea how good he is in this younger form, but surely he must be closer to her own skill level. Maybe she'd even be a match for him.]

[She turns back to stir the sausage before answering his question.] You know...I'm not sure. [Typically, Nami was an early riser as well, usually getting up around the same time as Vivi, but she's not sure if that still applies to this younger version of her.]

[A very loud, insistent voice screams in dissent at Vivi's suggestion, so sudden and powerful Sanji almost visibly startles. He thinks he understands why; even as a younger boy he had a aversion to hitting girls. It's not like that has changed.

But it had always been more a stubborn choice, not an unbreakable rule. This feeling worms deeper inside, makes his stomach twist in unease, and he reluctantly opens his mouth to turn her down. It doesn't feel right]

-- Okay!

[Except, he realizes, as the one word pops out of his mouth unbidden and unexpected, disappointing Vivi for any reason strikes him as crueler. She's never asked for much, and considering all she's done for him since he's been here...

It's a spar, he reassures himself, steadily keeping the smile on his face. Not a big deal. They'll do it once, and then she'll be happy. And after all, making a girl happy is the most important part.]

We could go later today if you want...?

[She turns back to him with a grin, admittedly a little surprised at how easily he'd agreed. She'd expected at least a cursory protest, but it's clear she's excited by the prospect of testing her skills against his.]

All right! After breakfast, maybe?
