003↠ ACTION/VOICE -- Chibi free for all

[ooc note: Okay, here's the deal, folks. Rather than create two posts for chibi!Sanji and risk losing my tags (because it would happen, trust me), this is the only entry I'll put up. I'm going to leave it up to you what age Sanji will be when your character(s) run into him. I put out the scenarios, and you guys run with them. |D Don't be afraid to be creative, I don't mind. Just mention the age in the subject line. If you want more than one chance to tag, create another thread, and specify the new age. |D Easy, yes? Possible ages are 11 through 20. Possible dates are February 3 through the 12. I am fine with either voice or action, though if it's voiced, it'll be assumed your character contacted Sanji through the journals first.

Ladies who volunteered to be crushed on! The applicable ages for that are 14 and up. But of course, you can interact with a younger version of Sanji if you want.

And also, bear with me on the icon front. >> There are plenty pictures of Sanji as a child and an adult, but not much in-between. U-use your imagination? ;A;]

[Nights have been rough so far, with strange dreams lingering on after his eyes have opened. And it makes him feel... different, somehow, like his life has altered in leaps and bounds. Skills that weren't accessible before, come to him easily. There are recipes in his head that shouldn't be there. He almost wishes he could tell someone about them; maybe one of the crew, eventually. They're nice enough, and have been more than accommodating, taking him in like this.

These thoughts are heavy to carry, but he's still a young boy suddenly trapped in a weird town with weird things. His attention isn't meant to dwell on problems for long. The goal to find Zeff eventually lessens to a dull ache, and Sanji busies himself with exploration: this Seventh Heaven restaurant, for one, and maybe the grocery store. He visits the item shop on a the fickle whim of a curious child, and eventually finds his way to the forest. He won't run away, though. He promised himself he wouldn't try anymore.]

[And in just a few days, Sanji finds himself forced to leave adolescence behind. It's more than a little obvious that something isn't right. While the crew has probably mentioned the nature of experiments, all the explanations in the world aren't gonna make this any less awkward, as he speeds through growth spurts and into sore, lanky limbs. He's grumpy half the time, flustered as well... which seems to happen like clockwork, whenever a pretty girl is nearby. He spends the majority of these days as red as a tomato and resorting to petty insults if it will get people out of his hair. When it gets hard to control, he seeks solitude to practice stretching and single-sparring. Or perhaps Nami. She's going through the same thing, too.

House 6 and Seventh Heaven are still his main places of solace. He considers himself a worthy enough cook by now, though he will often yield to Yukito's directions. He's broadened his explorations, however; he heavily frequents the forestplains, and will use the teleporters to sneak off to the ocean, when he feels like it.]

[Given enough time, the strangest of circumstances stop being strange, and turn into a compromised status-quo. Sanji barely gives any attention to his nightly dreams now - they come and he changes, both mentally and physically. His temper is still hot as ever, but slowly being tempered by a knack for cunning and kindness. Even his initial anxiety around women has all but disappeared - he eagerly greets them now, with what the residents might note to be his usual enthusiasm. Still rough around the edges and prone to silliness (or hormone spikes), but that's Sanji for you.

He knows the entire village layout, and you can find him anywhere: item shop, grocery, clothing store, battle dome, forest, ocean... He finds a reason to visit them all because sometimes, it's easier walking blindly, even when you don't really have a place to go to.]

Stretching. Balance. [Technically meditating but he doesn't have the patience for it.]

Mmhmm. [He smiles a little at the thought, since he's rather used to lugging stuff around for her. He doesn't mind] Is she still in bed?

Oh, I see. Maybe one day you'll let me watch you practice? [Vivi has to admit, she's curious. Then another thought strikes her and she turns to him with an excited smile.]

Maybe we could even spar! ...if you go easy on me. [She has no idea how good he is in this younger form, but surely he must be closer to her own skill level. Maybe she'd even be a match for him.]

[She turns back to stir the sausage before answering his question.] You know...I'm not sure. [Typically, Nami was an early riser as well, usually getting up around the same time as Vivi, but she's not sure if that still applies to this younger version of her.]

[A very loud, insistent voice screams in dissent at Vivi's suggestion, so sudden and powerful Sanji almost visibly startles. He thinks he understands why; even as a younger boy he had a aversion to hitting girls. It's not like that has changed.

But it had always been more a stubborn choice, not an unbreakable rule. This feeling worms deeper inside, makes his stomach twist in unease, and he reluctantly opens his mouth to turn her down. It doesn't feel right]

-- Okay!

[Except, he realizes, as the one word pops out of his mouth unbidden and unexpected, disappointing Vivi for any reason strikes him as crueler. She's never asked for much, and considering all she's done for him since he's been here...

It's a spar, he reassures himself, steadily keeping the smile on his face. Not a big deal. They'll do it once, and then she'll be happy. And after all, making a girl happy is the most important part.]

We could go later today if you want...?

[She turns back to him with a grin, admittedly a little surprised at how easily he'd agreed. She'd expected at least a cursory protest, but it's clear she's excited by the prospect of testing her skills against his.]

All right! After breakfast, maybe?

Alright. I think there's a teleporter to the beach we can take. [Right now, Sanji's choosing not to over-analyze the issue. There's food to be cooked and... and she looks excited, so he's done something right.

He'll repeat this to himself until it's enough to quell his undefined fears.]

[Vivi nods, beginning to cook the eggs now, and quite unaware of any internal struggles Sanji might be going through.]

Yes, I've used it before. [Though not for a while now. She wonders absently how cold the beach will be.]

[A glance over her shoulder to the kitchen clock. It's still quite early, though it won't be much longer until the other housemates begin to filter in for breakfast. She thinks, not for the first time since Zoro had appeared with Nami and Sanji in tow, how nice it is to have such a full house again, with no one absent due to Malnosso meddling. And though she knows she shouldn't, she almost wishes Carue, Usopp, Franky--and yes, even Robin--could be here as well.]

[She begins to hum softly to herself as she cooks, not even aware she's doing it.]

[Heh. Someone's in a good mood. Sanji isn't sure if he should ascribe this to himself or other factors, but eventually his inner turmoil sinks into the background. There will be plenty of time for nervousness later, outside the kitchen he's becoming very familiar with. His fruit salad done, Sanji puts together the batter for pancakes while subconsciously dissecting Vivi's tune.

A few moments later, he carefully jumps in, matching her pace]

[When Sanji joins in, Vivi realizes she's been humming aloud. For an instant she stops in surprise, then begins humming again a little louder, glancing over to him with a smile. She adds the browned sausage to the eggs, mixing it in well with a spatula as they cook. Almost done, and then she'll cede the stove top to Sanji.]

[Vivi can take her time; Sanji's in no hurry to move. And in any case, Franky designed the kitchen well. If he needs to, he can turn on the other stove top before she's finished.]

Do you think we'll need anything else? [Bacon, eggs with sausage, pancakes, fruit salad... He's pecking at his brain for anything else]

[Vivi laughs. Compared to the more meager breakfasts she and the others have been preparing in Sanji's absence, this is quite the bounty.] ...toast and jam?

[Not that toast requires much in the way of preparation.]

Good enough. [He's a professional (or is gonna be), but every now and then he prefers embracing laziness.

Anyway, pancake time. He fries them up four at a time for maximum efficiency, and the pan's slick enough where he can flip them without a spatula.

At the same time. Oh yeah.]

[omg, showoff.]

[Vivi finishes up the eggs, covering them so they stay warm, then begins to set the table. The toast can wait until people start wandering in for breakfast.]

[After breakfast is over - which is as loud of an event as always, even more so with crewmates demanding Nami and Sanji line up for height differences - Sanji makes good on his promise to take Vivi to the beach. When they get there, it's cold; the breeze from the sea doesn't do the temperature any favors. But Sanji finds the bite refreshing, and turns to the girl with a faint grin]

You still sure you wanna spar? [Trying to change her mind? Now why would he do that? >.>]

Of course! [With the frigid wind off the sea, Vivi's glad she bundled up in a warm coat, along with a knit cap and gloves--though she'll have to take the latter off to use her weapons. Speaking of which...]

You probably don't know how I fight, do you? Maybe I should show you before we start. [It only seems fair.]

[Sanji's all ears and eyes. And he's curious to boot. Vivi doesn't strike him as the type to use physical force; neither does she seem to have the muscle for it, either. He's guessing she must use a weapon, but as to what that is...]

Okay.

[Vivi nods, pulling off her gloves and stashing them in a pocket. She rubs her hands together and breathes on them before pulling out two of her Peacock Slashers and slipping the rings onto her pinkies. She raises her arms and lets the jeweled blades drop so Sanji can see them, before setting them spinning with a few deft flicks of her wrists.]

[She turns slightly to the left, looking for a likely target. Ah, there, a piece of driftwood lies on the sand, and she throws out her left Slasher, letting the blade's momentum wrap the wire around the wood rather than connecting directly. She tugs it back, and the driftwood jumps into the air--at which point she lets fly with her right hand. Here, she aims for the blade to connect cleanly, shattering the wood into several smaller pieces. She pulls both her Slashers back and catches the blades to turn back to Sanji.]

...it's more or less like that. [She holds up one of the blades between two fingers.] These haven't been sharpened for a while, but they still have an edge, so I'll try my best not to let them cut you. Will that be all right?

[... Um.

The demonstration is treated to a dubious glance, followed by a face slowly draining itself of color, and then a sharp shudder in the shoulders when the wood shatters.

His ass is grass, isn't it? Suddenly this doesn't strike him as a good idea, for his own skin. Because the truth is Sanji hasn't attempted any training upon arriving in Luceti, if you don't count his "spar" with Zoro. The precision with which Vivi wields what amounts to a sharp edge on a string is intimidating to the young fighter. He doesn't know what he can do to put up a decent fight - all he has are half-baked dreams that are probably more folly than truth.

But he nods, because he's young and prideful and won't let himself back away from a promise. After a second's pause, he slowly takes off his coat.]

[Vivi can't help but notice the slight pallor to his face, though she's not sure how to interpret that. The idea that he might see her as a legitimate threat at this age doesn't really occur to her yet; she's so used to thinking of him as an unstoppable force when it comes to fighting, and she was more or less his age when she first entered Baroque Works. Maybe it's just the cold.]

Are you ready, Sanji-san?

--Yeah. [As ready as he'll ever be. He shrugs the coat to the ground, first standing like he's got a pole jutted through his spine. Any techniques or exercises he thinks he knows, flee his mind in an instant, leaving him to turn and face Vivi alone.]

Ready. [That doesn't stop him from gradually leaning into what the princess might recognize as an earlier form of Sanji's defensive position: one foot drawn back, 60% of the weight focused on it, the other leg ready to counter or spring into action if necessary. The boy probably doesn't realize he's doing it]

[Vivi nods as she sees Sanji position himself, her face taking on a more serious expression as she concentrates. She begins spinning her Slashers--still fairly slowly now as she watches Sanji for his next move. Vivi's more a defensive fighter than an all out attacker, adjusting her reactions according to her opponent's moves, and in this case, she's being extra cautious, knowing what Sanji is normally capable of.]

[So, she begins to take a few steps to the side, not actually closing the distance between them yet. Her eyes are trained carefully on him for the slightest shift in balance that might indicate an attack coming her way.]

[She's not attacking.

That makes him more nervous, to be honest. With a cool head it'd be easier to discern the reason, but in his present state... Well. Sanji busies himself by keeping his breathing even, his heart beat controlled, continuing to stand still as a grave.

He can't stay like this forever, though. Eventually it dawns that if Vivi makes the first move, she already has the advantage with a reach that long. He's better off served trying to force her hand some way.

Alright. Stay calm. One more deep breath. His eyelids slide to half-mast, briefly, like the breath before a gunshot, and then they shoot open the moment his weight shifts forward into a run. He doesn't aim for her directly; rather, he adjusts his course for more a side-swipe.]

[Sanji takes so long to act, that Vivi is close to rushing him herself when he finally makes his move. When he charges, she's ready, though she'd expected a more head-on attack.]

[He's fast. No surprise there either, despite his youth. This is the first time she's been on this side of things, though, and for a moment she wonders if she's still in over her head.]

[Well. Nothing to do but try her best. Vivi pivots to keep him in her sight as he angles around. Watching his feet carefully to get the timing right, she throws out one Slasher, meaning to wrap it around an ankle and trip him up.]

[As Sanji's never seen the woman fight before, her attack is pragmatic without being obvious, and it catches his ankle with no real difficulty, right at the moment he's about to swing out with his foot. It's what he feared - for a martial artist who refuses to use his hands, her weapon of choice is pretty damn effective.

Which means it's time to improvise. When she pulls, Sanji forces his weight to the side so he won't land on his back, and uses his arms as springs to keep his momentum intact. The free leg swings out for her ankles, blatantly mimicking her earlier attack.

Spar or not, he's not going to willingly land a blow. Disabling her will be enough.]

[Vivi's almost surprised when her throw connects as planned, even more so when Sanji topples. She jumps back immediately to put more distance between them, narrowly avoiding his leg sweep, and gives her Slasher line a snap to unwrap it from his ankle and pull it back. Under normal circumstances, she'd attack again now, while he was still down, but she doesn't want to cut him with her blades. She wishes belatedly she'd thought to wrap them beforehand to blunt them; she won't be able to fight at her best while taking care not to slice him.]

[Still, that first attack of his has Vivi feeling more confident than before. Whether the result of inexperience on his part, him taking similar care not to hurt her, or a combination of the two, it had been fairly sloppy. She readies her Peacock Slashers again, spinning them a bit faster, and backs up a few more steps, a smug smile quirking her lips. Hey, he's young, maybe she can psyche him out.]

[Her eyes are trained on him, and the moment he makes a move to get up, she'll throw another attack--this one not intended to connect so much as force him back and put him further off balance.]

[Yeah, that had been embarrassingly sloppy. Sanji can practically hear Zeff barking at him in disgust. And her smirk -- Vivi or not, that's a burn to his pride, and the boy's cheeks burn. It's a battle enough keeping the urge to win in check.

He hasn't taken his eyes off her, either, at least. It's no feat seeing the next oncoming attack. Not knowing its intended purpose, Sanji reacts as he would've from the start, and quickly rolls backwards rather than try to continue standing. Shit, he hopes those things can't change their intended trajectory once thrown.

He'll make another attempt to stand, as quickly as possible, before she flings something else his way]
