[Once he's inside, he'll probably notice Yasusada snuggling with this. He did not get to keep their actual dog friend(?) from their furniture adventures, which is tragic, but at least there's this thing.

AND YEAH those ink letters definitely once read "I challenged a shark and lost" in Japanese. TERRIBLE. LAKE SQUAD IS TERRIBLE.]

Oh, Sanji-kun. [A SNIFFLE. He's pathetic.] My vessel isn't damaged, but my body is still like this.

[He's got a fucking cold]

[HE DESERVES EVERY OUNCE OF THIS also it's a magical head cold with minimal to zero coughing because I personally don't want to deal with Yasusada's Okita's feelings right now. I'm tired.

ANYWAY.]

Oh--thank you, Sanji-kun. [Soup!! Maybe it will cure him? Wow being sick is terrible. Yasusada is once again displeased that swords can't cut out illnesses.]

Oh, this? [HIS PLUSH.] Um, it's supposed to slow me down, if I fall. I have something else, too, for curses. A curling thing.

[POINTING probably in the box that his belongings came in, honestly? That's where he's been keeping his storybook, and his spare clothing. The item he's talking about is a slap bracelet, but it's a toss-up if Yasusada figured out how to put it on or not.]

[MORE SNIFFLES. But he nods; he assumes it's from that, anyway, since he's spent most of his free time tending the fields this week.

Apparently he's not feeling miserable enough to discard his sense of duty, though, since he straightens up a little, shaking his head at the question.]

No, nothing.

[STOP HE DIDN'T CHALLENGE THE SHARK THEY JUST FLOATED TOGETHER]

[Even though it's par for the course, he still feels a little disappointed, that he has nothing better to offer. His cold isn't so bad that he can't focus.

He nods again, though, hearing that.]

Alright. [Like he said--if it's Sanji, he doesn't mind. Something seems to occur to him, though, and he pushes his bangs out of his face. He was originally going to tell Sanji that the whiteboard didn't have his ability on it but I just double-checked and it does now sO:] I haven't told anyone yet. That, or my ability.

[So he doesn't mind sharing both with Sanji. It shouldn't have any repercussions.]

[If there's one thing Yasusada has going for him, it's loyalty. He's made it clear that he trusts Sanji, and that isn't something he'll go back on easily. He is, oddly enough, better with secrets--the real ones, that is--than one might expect. He has no intention of spreading this around unless he absolutely has to.]

I'm with Kage-kun, like you thought. [Black Shadows... though he hasn't sought them out much, the way he did with Tiger. He's too uncomfortable with the things that don't fit right to feel a strong urge to build up that relationship.] And my power can throw off someone's sense of balance for a day.

[I'M STILL IN FUCKING TEARS

But Yasusada, in turn, considers what Sanji just told him, rubbing at his nose.]

That could be very useful. [Especially for someone like Sanji, who would probably be a good judge of when to use it.] Do you know what the limitations are? I haven't asked about mine.

[Since for now he doesn't plan to use it, except maybe in self-defense, but.]

Before? As in, before a murder happens?

[That... yeah. That complicates things by a lot. But how "before" are they talking?]

So you'd have to intend to kill someone... or know someone else's plans.

[So it's nothing like what he'd been picturing--conjuring up something during an investigation, for instance. It couldn't even be used for self-defense, in case Sanji was in the wrong place at the wrong time. It... yeah, this power sucks?? What the heck.

Also I forgot this pc is on friday so he will ask Sanji about repetitive powers in the other one--for now, he sneezes again as he frowns down at the floor.]

...We don't know for sure that they won't use coercion, right? Or promises?

[Since the whole "keep or change your ending" thing didn't seem to go over very well with everyone.]

...I know you won't agree, but I would rather it be me than you.

[He says it with nothing but honesty in his tone. It probably isn't a surprise. The words he spoke back then, Being left behind by everyone... it's not a feeling I ever wanted him to know, still remain true. Yasusada is a sword, and hundreds of years spent alone can't be unlearned so quickly. Most likely, he will always prefer to be the one who isn't left picking up the pieces.

It's more than that, though. Sanji is better with people. He's smart, and honorable, but willing to do what needs to be done. Yasusada isn't very good at looking at things objectively, but it seems obvious, that Sanji is a much more valuable person to keep around.

But it's because of that that he's so certain about his own words. If Sanji asked him to let himself be set up, he would agree--but the chances of that ever happening, he thinks, are next to zero. ...Still, at least if that happened, Sanji would go out on his own terms. There's something powerful about being able to make that choice, isn't there?]

...Or someone was simply willing to do it from the start. [Perhaps the "winner takes all" plan is enough to convince someone to act. It's difficult to say.] I can't say I wouldn't consider it, if I trusted the directors more.

[Which Sanji probably knew already, too. But as it stands, like he's said before, there's too much going on that doesn't add up. He isn't willing to make a choice that would upset everyone (including Okita, wherever he is) when they have so little information. The potential for trickery is far too high.]
