Sanji is on the lookout... not that there's many places to search on a third-level bus, but the chef still takes his time until he's found Yams and a semi-private area of the bus (probably a corner where the music is blaring so no one can hear them).
[Yasu has no modesty and no filter, so the lack of privacy doesn't bother him all that much--but if Sanji wants to talk in private, then that's fine with him! Yasusada's poking around the books for now, looking for any sort of history books, mostly. But it's not urgent, so he looks up, and shakes his head. Hopefully his hair is dry by now...]
Just... wanna touch base with everyone who came from the castle.
[Which is true -- Sanji plans to track down everyone for a private chat, and that includes Yams. But his expression is on the graver side this time, teeth bothering at his lower lip.]
I'm assuming you don't remember anything about how we got here, yeah?
Okita-kun said he was going to travel... [Some things never change.] ...but I was trying to go back to the Citadel.
[If he'd tried to follow Okita, he would've thought maybe he was being punished, but he actually tried to be good and go back to his new master, so. He frowns, though, looking around the bus.]
But it's strange, Sanji-kun. There are other swords here too, so maybe it's a mission from Master after all...?
[He sounds really uncertain, mostly because the Hanamaru saniwa is a fuckin weirdo and who knows what they're thinking, at all, ever. Usually they at least get orders, though, so the idea isn't a very strong one.]
[Hrm... that's actually a wrinkle for him. He only has Yams to go by, and as affectionate as he is towards this sword pup, he's also demonstrated how... tunnel-vision the swords can be once they're threatened.
SO YEAH. Perhaps Sanji has an uno worry]
Just how many swords are we talking about? I mean, I don't know enough about your master to make that call, but seeing as he didn't send you to the castle, stands to reason he's got nothing to do with the bus, either.
[SANJI IS NOT INCORRECT IN THIS ASSUMPTION HONESTLY. Yasusada is more turbo than most of them, but pretty much all of them have the ability to hyperfocus... and fighting to the death is, y'know. Kind of a sword-wielder thing.
But Yasusada tilts his head, lifting a hand to start counting on his fingers.]
Let's see, there's Tonbokiri, and Tsurumaru Kuninaga, and Ookurikara, and then me... so we'd need two more, for a normal team. [There's like five thousand of them at the Citadel, it's usually not hard to form teams of 6.] But I think Tsurumaru-san is the only one who came from home...
[spoilers this is not correct but tsuru lied and then yams misinterpreted the lie]
But he's got names and that's something; Sanji commits them to memory, counting off four before a slow nod of understanding. He gives his chin a thoughtful rub]
Because that goddamn word blows through Sanji like an ill omen, and he can't quite keep his face from grimacing, as if Yasusada struck him. Shoulders tense, he has to breathe out slowly until his heartbeat calms into something more manageable.]
No. Nothing like that.
[His voice at least sounds sincere and... repentant.]
Trust me, I'd like nothing better than an explanation on why we're doing this bullshit again, but that's why I'm asking around.
[Yasusada is... not the sharpest sword on the bus, let's be honest. But he's never actually been as stupid as he appears--gullible, yeah, naive, sure, but not stupid, and not unobservant. So he notices that reaction, but without the missing piece, it makes no sense to him.
It seems strangely rude to ask, though. And he understands where Sanji's coming from--Yasusada may not really bear any ill will towards Tiger and Dragon, but the time they spent in the castle wasn't exactly fun and games.]
[The apologies Sanji would owe the other if he only knew... but he's working on an assumption that hasn't come to light yet, and it's why he allows himself a moment's weariness before shaking himself back to the present]
Probably.
[Spoken bluntly, the truth of things]
Got no reason to assume this shit'll go well a second time. I'm not even sure this is Tiger-sama or Dragon-sama's doing, either... after everything, it doesn't make sense for them to go back on their promises.
[So... likely a third party that has nothing to do with their former hosts]
[So yanking them back in would only undo all their efforts, and wouldn't make any sense.
Yasusada's oddly quiet, then, as he thinks about it. If everyone is assuming danger and violence await them, then they're probably right--and this time, there's no Okita or Hijikata to protect, to obey. There's no team captain, no orders from the saniwa... it's a little uncomfortable, for a sword who has no interest in being a free, independent human.]
Sanji-kun? [His voice and his expression are both uncertain, because--well. Sanji isn't his master, and Yasusada doesn't want him to be. Still, aside from the other swords, he's the strongest tie Yasusada has here.] If things go badly, and you figure out how to help, will you tell me?
[That's partly why Sanji dragged Yasusada away from the bustle of the group -- to promise him that, and more importantly:]
Oi, speaking of which ... listen, I know you don't really got your masters here, so shit's probably weird for you--
[In some ways, Sanji can understand. He isn't so beholden to his captain or his crew that he can't operate independently of them, but his soul feels a little emptier without them as his guide. The chef shoots him a grim smile]
Just... come to me if you're planning on doing anything rash, alright? Not sayin' I'll stop you, but you got somewhere you need to be too, right?
[It's a kind offer, especially when Sanji actually knows what he's saying. Yasusada is more-or-less friendly to everyone, but the bonds he forms are vastly different, depending on how well someone understands his devotion. He hesitates, though, because he knows himself too well.]
Sometimes, I don't know what's strange for humans to hear. Especially civilians. [And sometimes, he does know, and just doesn't care--Sanji's fully aware of both of those things, but Yasusada wants to say them anyway. To prove, maybe, that he isn't totally oblivious to his own actions.] But I'll try.
[He can't promise he won't blurt out something terrible in a tense situation. But other than that, he'll do his best.]

Don't you just love the lack of privacy?]
Oi, you busy right now?

No, not right now. Why?

[IF ANYONE IS GOING TO PICK BETRAY, IT WOULD BE HIM, HE THINKS]
Ookurikara doesn't really like anybody... and Tonbokiri-san is a Muramasa, but I think he's nice. [As if that means anything at all.
Oh, but, while they're on the topic...]
Eh, but Sanji-kun, you don't know anything either, right? Nobody asked you to be-- [He pauses, trying to remember what the term was.] --an "Editor"?
[I looked it up and Varian just said that they were "tasked with removing players on behalf of the Crafters" so YEEHAW]
