Sometimes it is the canvas that can be the thing holding a person back. Something unconventional might work better for you. You can technically say that food is, after all, your medium more than paints and paintbrushes.

Much Ado About Nothing was better for charm and romance. Even if the main couple were easily over looked in favour of the secondary one.

well yea if u hyperfocus on those details it looks silly

u gotta look at the emotion between the two main characters, that's the selling point

its why starcrossed lovers is such a huge trope in fiction

But... why do people enjoy stories in which the protagonists do not get happiness together in the end?

There's nothing satisfying about the bull-headedness of family feuds tearing apart two people who just wanted to be together.

shit i'd say it sells better than happy endings sometimes

two lovers who can only be reunited in death bc life was too cruel

... or uh that's what i'm assuming

I wonder why. I always thought reading was escapism. Do we love tragedy so much we choose to escape to it in our free time...?

shit i know some who hate happy endings bc they feel it's too sugary and unrealistic

tragedies feel more honest to them

but then u got people who like happiness bc life has never treated them kindly so its nice to see even fictional characters get a reprieve

The world is tough. I don't think there's anything wrong finding escapism in your entertainment. Even if it can be a little too sugary sweet, yes.

It's about balance. As most things are.
