[frowning deeply as he pulls a (pink) whistle out of his pocket and blows on it sadly]
This is what I got this week. It's just a normal whistle; completely useless. The week before I got a weird flute, and the week before that I got a kazoo.
Nothing good, just. . . consolation prizes, I guess.
... It's our safest bet for now, seeing as Shadow's team has such an advantage.
[...]
I've still got people willing to share infor from Shadow's team -- I'll check in with all of them, and see if they'll tell me what the prizes are. It'll help start us on the right foot if more of us are aware of what tools there are.
That'll work. Later in the week we can double-check to make sure the items match up and leave it at that. Even if we can't bring shit up during a trial doesn't mean we can't steer the group in a better direction.
What if you checked someone you know is on Shadows' team?
[hear him out!!]
We don't know how many roles are in this game, but we know that I'm working for Winter and you're working for Heart. That means that Shadows must have someone working for them, too.
[another pause]
. . . Lili seems to think that it's possible both Yu and Hikage's murders were committed by someone on Shadows' team. She also seems to think that whoever killed Yu, at the very least, did so knowing that we would all die unless a murder occurred on Thursday.
What if. . . the person working for Shadows' is supposed to make sure that at least one person dies each week?
[a sharp exhale, and Akira lifts a hand to tug at his bangs]
And if the directors really are on our side-- which I believe they are-- then they'd do whatever they could to make sure we don't all go down in one week. If I'm right, then we need to be the ones to find that person first.
[before anyone else does. before someone decides to kill them in revenge]
Even if I'm wrong. . . focusing your search on anyone on Shadows' team might still reveal a role.
[if he's right about each of the directors having one person working directly under them, that is]
[... It's sound logic, and Sanji can't say he wasn't already planning on searching out Shadow's team. It's like they were saying before -- the teams are becoming too uneven.]
Fine. I'll ... narrow my search and look for Shadow's team specifically.
[His expression is even again, albeit slightly paler]
You're right about one thing -- we gotta find whoever is working for Shadow. When I talked to Heart, they were impressed you and I found each other so quick, so I'm thinking all three of us collaborating might benefit the game as a whole.

... So the same team's won three times in a row.

[popping that 'p' for emphasis]
And if they keep getting things that make committing murders easier, then we're going to keep getting it wrong each week.
Assuming that Lili was right when she said we were looking for someone from Shadows' team for Hikage's murder, too.

They'd be willing to share information with me, but only if I promise not to spread it around.

[. . .]
I don't want anyone else to end up like Giyuu.
no subject
[That Giyuu was made into an example... Sanji's mouth curls into a frown, but--]
If anything, I suspect a lot of us might start getting too cautious outta fear. We need a better game plan.
no subject
We do. A better way to pass around information without hurting anyone.
[. . .]
Either that. . . or we just need to learn to trust each other more.
no subject
[He'll concede the truth of that last statement. Akira isn't wrong]
But right now, not everyone's got the incentive to trust.
no subject
Maybe that's why we're doing so badly right now.

Taking the first bandage roll he sees and lobbing it at Akira's head]
Stop that.
no subject
[but fortunately it hits the uninjured side of his face, and at the back of his head to. with a yell he snaps his gaze upwards and scowls at Sanji]
Hey! What was that for?!

[Sanji's bedside manner is amazing.]

[like a thought just dawned on him]

Though given the look on Akira's face, Sanji abruptly ceases being a hardass and leans off the wall]
What...? That better be the face of a guy whose got shit to tell me now.

Something just occurred to me.
[he really doesn't know if he's right, but. . .]
Who were you going to check this week?

[He hadn't decided yet]

[Sorry Akira is gonna need to give Sanji a hot second to fix his face]
no subject
[He looks like he almost wants to argue that point, only to stop and drag a hand through his hair, gaze sharply tossed to the side]
Shit, fine. Yeah it's possible... a failsafe to keep the game from going under. Other games had shit like that.

[he says that quickly. and, after a moment's pause, he speaks again, voice low]
And if I'm right about the nature of the role-- and I hope that I'm not-- then. . .
I feel like that's someone worth protecting since the entire camp is going to be out for their blood.
