... Dragon-sama?
[Sitting on one of the couches, Sanji calls out into the silence of the fire dorm while Nami -- his tiger cub -- sleeps next to him]
An audience, if you would.

... Sanji?

[Yeah.
That's it.]

She falters for a moment, seemingly at a loss for words.
And then - ]
Did I ever tell you that the banana bread was delicious?
Because it was.

[Looking especially pleased to hear this, and his entire face lights up.]
Good. I wouldn't forgive myself if I left cooking you some subpar shit.

Her shoulders relax, and she picks up her skirts to enter the room, closing the distance between them.]
Not in the slightest.
I hadn't been able to taste something so delicious since the royal chefs knew my absolute faaaavorite recipe, had it perfect ever since I was a little girl.

You were royalty as well?

I was.
Happily so. My kingdom meant the world to me - and everyone in it was what made it so lively.
Your cooking reminded me of that time... Warm and comforting.
Thank you very, very much for that.

Y'know, Tiger-sama told me you chose me as your champion.
... It's funny. You and I have more in common than I thought.
[A shake of his head]
I'm glad I could offer you that. My kingdom wasn't so kind to me when I was a child, but I had Mother... and Nee-san.

[She knows his story - and yet, she still wants to hear it.]
... I put a great burden on you, by choosing you. But I - ... I hope you'll forgive me when I say that I don't regret it.
You have done very well.
I don't want to thank you for your service... not yet.
[She doesn't know if she wants to say goodbye yet.]
But soon... when it is over.

He'll tell Dragon that he doesn't remember his mother, really -- only that she loved him, he thinks, he hopes, and even ate the terrible cooking of his younger self, beaming her pride and showing him the joys of serving others instead of himself.
He tells Dragon of Reiju, who laughed with his brothers when he was bullied, but always in secret mended his wounds, and when it really mattered, showed him the love and support he'd craved his entire life by helping him run away from an abusive castle.
He tells Dragon of Zeff, a gruff pirate who spent three months stuck on a rock in the middle of the ocean with him, and through an act of sheer kindness, secretly gave Sanji food enough to survive the horrific ordeal, and then later took him in as his son, turning him into a chef worthy of succeeding him.
He tells Dragon of his crew -- Nami, Zoro, Usopp, Chopper, Robin, Franky, and Brook -- all of their individual quirks and annoyances, yet how each of them has joined up to become a family, and that there is no greater joy in his life than knowing his sister was right, and he found people who accept him as he is.
... And of course, he tells Dragon of Luffy -- his captain. The one who saved him. The one who came to rescue him, though Sanji could not reply honestly at the time. Who he knows will keep searching for a way to save his wayward chef from his fate, even if it's too late. The man who will become Pirate King.
There are tears in his eyes at the end, but there is a smile too. The most honest expression of his love.]
I got no complaints, y'know? They're all my saviors. So no matter what happens... I'm glad I was blessed enough to have them in my life.
