Because after spending like a good hour crying somewhere, the boy's disappearance stabs him in the gut, and that adrenaline has him running for the Earth dorm in a hurry.

[Sanji can check Earth dorm...and come up with nothing. It doesn't look like Ion's in the room that has his name in that dorm.]

... And then just scoot his ass to the Wind Dorms after having given himself five consecutive heart attacks.

K-knock knock! Again. And in a less panicked voice because he's tired:]

[And there's Ion, in his room, laying in bed. He looks...really tired, so that's why he wasn't around today! He starts to smile at Sanji, but his face falls. He knows what day it is, after all.]

Sanji needs a few moments (god no, he needs an eternity) but eventually he'll pull back, eyes bloodshot but at least somewhat dry.]

[His voice is strained]

Sousei, too... and apparently we lost track of a body. There's one more person whose gone, but we don't know who it is.

[Ion only spoke with Jae-ha and Sousei a few times, so he barely knew them...but clearly it wasn't the same in this case. And every death here is hard to swallow.]

... I haven't seen Zelos, yet.

[Biting his lip. He-- he can't dwell on that right now.]

I don't know where Reyna-chan is, either.

[Or Fane, but that one (selfishly) worries him a little less]

[Concern rushes across Ion's face. He likes both of those people!]

I'm sure it's just a coincidence.

[But he has to admit...there's no way of knowing for sure. If it's been confirmed that there's another body somewhere then, well, they have to assume it's someone. Ion's eyes close slowly.]

I know it doesn't make it hurt less...but we'll get them all back.

[He knows that Sanji knows this, but...it just helps to say it. To be reminded. To hear those words.]

[Sanji has no choice to believe Ion's words. He's heard them echoed throughout the castle already, from various places.

To accept anything else is just... not allowed, at this point.

He doesn't think he could weather the disappointment.]
