Week 5 | Wednesday
[Sanji has no business in the laboratory given he's no chemist. His reason for being here is to fetch one of his friends something or other, and it just so happens that along the way--
He spotted his gaudy ass lighter hidden under one of the tables. With a little bending and wiggling, it won't be too hard to grab, but that doesn't stop Sanji from swearing the entire time.
He is entirely leggy. Why must he do this]
Just watch it disappears the moment I touch it...! Tch.

no subject
no, just kidding. he will approach sanji, eyebrow raised. ]
The hell are you trying to grab?
no subject
[Seeing as this castle dumped him here without one, Sanji is not returning from under this table until he grabs it--
Aha!]
Got it!
[... So hopefully Waver doesn't freak out when the two of them are inexplicably surrounded in a bubble.]
no subject
either way, he is actually not surprised. if anything, he's...annoyed. annoyed and a little concerned ]
I should've expected something like this. [ eyeroll ] Sanji, you okay?
no subject
[He has to scoot his way back before he realizes what's caught Waver's attention, eyes widening slightly at the sight of the bubble rippling around them. A poke makes it clear they're probably not getting out -- it's like steel.]
What shit is this...
[Well, give it a second, Sanji. The scene will change, flickering like a movie screen into an open area on top of a very, very large ship... that is literally flying in the air. Huh.
But that's a small detail compared to the yelling that's going on. Across from them stands an enormous man, and even though Sanji would never use such a term, there is a power to his presence that might remind Waver of a Servant. He's certainly regarding the young man and woman with the sneer of a Servant before prey. Electricity jumps from his hands as he stalks towards the two.
That's when the perspective of the memory suddenly lunges forward -- because whoever this memory belongs to, he's running, and there's the brief flash of a kick being thrown into the young man's side. He squawks from pain, but it's enough to throw him forward, out of range of their enemy's attack.]
Oi, both of you -- Go.
[... Mostly certainly Sanji's voice, and he doesn't sound all that afraid, even when a large blast of electricity comes for him and sears the rest of the memory into stark, painful white.]
cw implied animal death
in the back of his head, he wants to tell the two in the memory to run, although he thinks that it might be for naught. someone of this strength can probably kill them even if they try to escape.
and then he hears sanji's voice, telling them to run, and waver's gaze immediately turns to him as the memory turns to white. logically, things turned out well. but seeing something like that...
the memory shifts. it's no longer a ship, but something like a yard in an apartment complex. it looks worn down-- depressing, too. the owner of the memory looks down, at a small lump of recently piled up earth. considering that the person is holding a shovel, it's obvious that they buried something. too small for a person. perhaps an item?
the perspective switches, to a young girl whose face is hidden underneath a dark hood. she speaks, her voice quiet and meek. ]
I don't understand.
You don't need to understand. [ the voice is clearly waver's. he sounds tired, more so than usual ] Such is just a trap of the mind. If you wish to follow the path of magecraft, you don't have time to get caught up in these kinds of things.
[ he turns back to the small mound of earth, a sigh escaping his lips. ]
If you ask any student, you will probably get the same answer. For starters, if I had been a skilled Magus, healing those kinds of injuries should have been possible. For not getting there in time, the one who didn't have the necessary power was me, after all.
Generally speaking, the feeling of satisfaction gained from saving something is simply a misrecognition of the heart. Even if you help someone, it's not like that helps you. And if it saves yourself, you can't know whether you really helped that person. Misunderstandings, miscommunications, disagreements, false understandings. This laughable repetition is what makes up the world we live in.
[ there's a pause. waver closes his eyes momentarily, and then opens them again. ]
But even so, we live in that world of misunderstanding. We are misrecognition. Our world itself is misunderstanding. We can experience a multitude of truths, not just one single reality. No matter how wise you are, or how much time you are given, you will never reach something like a single truth. [ he chuckles ] Magi may just be those who continually reject that fact.
[ then, he turns to the hooded girl who continues to stare at him with a confused gaze. waver doesn't mind, though. ] If you forget that, and recklessly pursue a lone truth-- My Lady, it would do you well to remember that that itself may truly be what makes you into the worst kind of person.
