Week 5 | Wednesday
[For a chef, Sanji doesn't have that many precious items that he'd go out of his way to hunt down. So long as he can replace his kitchenware, his motto is not to get too attached to any one tool; he can always find something better, he can always work to replace an object.
That said... he does have a particular set of kitchen knives that he's fond of, that only resided on his ship Sunny. Finding them just hanging on one of the foyer banisters like it might fall?
Kinda gets the heart rate going]
Oh-- shit--
[It's probably a trick but to hell with it, Sanji wants those knives. And that's how Cardia will find him, reaching for his set and hopefully not falling off the stairs himself]

[ Yes, sounding alarmed while someone is in a delicately precarious situation is a great idea. ]

O-oi, it's fine! I'm not hurt!
[Not hurt yet +_+ Also with a little luck and some stretching, he does grab onto those knives of his with a triumphant grin.
Which quickly turns into dismay because where did. this bubble come from?]

[ Just saying. ]

He's not really liking the sight of this? Poking it doesn't do anything either -- it's malleable, but strong as steel.]
The hell...
[Seconds later and they're in for another surprise -- the scene changes, seeming to whisk them away from the foyer and into another area entirely. Thankfully it's nothing like that time they were dragged underwater. They aren't actually moving.
But this room... in front of them is a large construction, like a water tank, and lined up inside are pods large enough to hold large men.
Which they... are. All identical. All sleeping. Except for the men in white coats who dart around with their clip boards, the room is silent, until--]
Look, Sanji! These are the soldiers of Germa 66! All created here in this lab!

It's when the voice speaks that she stiffens though, suddenly recalling-- that's right. Hadn't Sanji told her about this? ]
no subject
... It's nothing he ever wanted her to see, though. And for that, Sanji stands next to her, livid in a way she's probably never seen. If looks could kill or if he was granted a fuckin body to murder in this instant--]
Listen closely, Sanji... Humans can be manufactured!
[The person speaking looks incredibly like Sanji, except much taller, bulkier, and with green hair. The expression on his face makes it clear he's loving the chance to share this, and he goes on, explaining how with this technology, the Vinsmoke family will go on to conquer all of the world if they want.
They alone hold the power to create super humans who will die for the royal family. Isn't it great!]
Enough! I don't want to hear anymore!
[It's Sanji's voice who rings out, though it doesn't come from the person standing next to Cardia. If it wasn't obvious before, they're viewing this memory through his perspective, and it shifts as the Sanji in memory sits down, staring down at his trembling hands]
You're making me nauseous--

Humans can be manufactured.
Truthfully, Cardia can sympathize with the miserably nauseous Sanji in his memory right now. That very statement makes her feel ill, and everything that follows is just-- appalling. People... actually thought like this? His own family?
It's no wonder he fled. ]

Again, they both look exactly like Sanji save for the hair.
And if Cardia's ever seen wild dogs hunt, that's how the brothers approach -- like they've found prey. The taunting begins then: how they profess to be disappointed that becoming a pirate didn't give Sanji some balls, and this is exactly why he's the failed son, afraid of his own heritage.
It's unlikely that the Sanji in memory is listening. In fact, after a sudden roar of anger, he dives at the blue haired man and kicks him straight in the face. But before he can even go in for another hit:]
I'd be careful, Sanji. Fight back, and all the blood of East Blue will be on your hands.
[... It's enough to make him stop in place, silent as the blue haired man picks himself off the floor and approaches, then practically teleports to Sanji's side before kicking him brutally in the chest.
Sanji falls. And as the memory starts to fade, the red-haired man laughs in the distance:]
I speak for all of us when I say -- welcome home, Sanji. Welcome back to our Vinsmoke family.
So let's remind you of the hierarchy of this house.

With a whole lot of sympathy brimming in her eyes, although she's honestly not sure what to say at first. The frustration - and reliving it - must be even more painful for him. ]

... And, once he's able to breathe through his rage, compose himself--]
Sorry you had to see that.
[Apologize.]
no subject
You didn't do anything wrong.
no subject
... Well, guess you know the truth now.

[A huff of a laugh]
Shit, I'm not much of a liar, am I?
[...]
It's fine. Even though shit ended this way, I... well, there was a time I wasn't with them, so I can't complain about my lot in life.

Me and my sister are the only ones who are... different, I guess. But she had to save her skin when we were kids, so bullied me, too.
[A shrug. He's not mad]
