[Fine. Chopper isn't about to look a gift invitation in the mouth. He changes to his usual form and takes off his backpack, drawing out a stethoscope. Then he approaches Jixsan, sending him one last dubious look before lifting the diaphragm to his chest.]

[concasse]

[Nothing indeed. Jixsan's voice is soft, when he speaks again]

I'm not your Sanji. [A claim he's repeated already, but this time he says it like he wants to spare Chopper some deeper pain. I'm not your Sanji; you don't have to feel bad.]

... It doesn't hurt, or. [He shifts lightly, his stare soon fixed rigidly on some turned-over earth] I'm fine.

[You're Sanji. He's sure of it - somehow, maybe not his, specifically, but you are, or were. He's so sure of it.]

[But he can't force this man to be his Sanji. Whatever memories he has...if they're anything like the collection buzzing in Chopper's own mind, they're real as can be to Jixsan. He's not a different person, really...but he certainly isn't the same.]

[Chopper isn't sure how to handle that.]

[Finally he lowers the stethoscope, unhooking the earpieces. He doesn't look at Jixsan as he drops the tool back into his sack.]

...what's Radiant Garden?

... The world I -- I mean, my Original used to live on. It was his home.

And your Original? He was...

What was it like? Do you remember?

[Chopper, why are you asking him this...?]

It was beautiful. A castle stood tall in the distance - where our king lived. Bustling cities dotted the area around it. Shops, fountains, homes, greenery and gardens ... [He closes his eyes, to better imagine it] Everyone in the universe called it the capital of light.

[He leans back] Maaah, I don't think it was that perfect, but it was home.

[Because even if you're somebody else...there's still part of you that's his nakama. He wants to know you.]

Mm. [Where once there was a small, subdued smile, now resides a dwindling expression. There are reasons he doesn't think about Radiant Garden if he can help it. He's heartless, and yet it hurts too much]

Sorry. [Just as abruptly as he'd sat, Jixsan stands again] I didn't mean to startle you before. [Tapping his chest to indicate the whole "no heart" thing]

[He shakes his head; he's seen some weirder things.] That's okay. I'm not sure I understand, but...as long as it isn't harmful to you.

[Chopper doesn't say anything for a few beats. What's he supposed to do in this situation? This - Jixsan has made it abundantly clear that he isn't affiliated with their crew. And Chopper sort of really misses the version of him who is.]

So, you were - never one of us? As far as you remember?

[Though those memories are wrong. They have to be.]

[Isn't harmful....

Chopper's handled enough shock today; Jixsan thinks it best not to mention the lack of emotions. Besides, for all he knows, the reindeer is still entertaining concerns for his Original rather than him.]

The first time I met you was two years ago, Chopper. [He slips his hands into his pockets, tone even again]
